Course Description
Walkie stackers and pedestrian-operated pallet trucks look simple, which is exactly why people get hurt on them. This short course covers the fundamentals of operating one safely in a warehouse or retail environment.
Who it is for
Warehouse, retail and logistics staff who operate or may be asked to operate a pedestrian walkie stacker or electric pallet truck.
What you will learn
- Pre-start inspection: forks, wheels, mast, battery, controls and the belly button reverse stop
- Understanding the load chart and the machine's rated capacity
- Stability, load centre and why an overloaded or badly placed load tips
- Safe travel: speed, direction of travel, ramps, doorways and blind corners
- Raising, lowering and placing loads into racking without damage
- Battery charging, gassing hazards and correct parking and isolation
- Pedestrian interaction and keeping your feet out of the crush zone
