Course Description

Forklifts are involved in a large share of serious workplace injuries in Australia, and most of those incidents involve people working near the machine rather than the operator. This course explains how a forklift behaves, why it tips, and how to work safely around one. Who it is for Forklift operators wanting a refresher, workers and contractors who share a floor with forklifts, supervisors, and anyone preparing to sit a high risk work licence assessment. What you will learn - Forklift types, components and the pre-start inspection - The stability triangle explained with diagrams, and why a turning forklift tips sideways - Load centre, load charts and how to read rated capacity at a given height - Attachments and how they change your capacity - Safe travel: forks low, direction of travel, ramps, wet floors, visibility and tail swing - Stacking and de-stacking into racking, and loading and unloading trucks - Pedestrian separation, exclusion zones and working with a spotter - Refuelling, battery charging, parking, isolation and shutdown - Reporting damage, defects and near misses What you get Around 90 minutes of self-paced online learning, a thorough knowledge assessment, and a PDF certificate of completion.
