Course Description

A plain-English, non-accredited online first aid awareness course written for people who are new to Australia, new to first aid, or new to a classroom setting. Eight slide sections build your confidence step by step: the chain of survival and calling Triple Zero, assessing an emergency with DRSABCD, CPR and using an automated external defibrillator, the recovery position, controlling bleeding and managing wounds, choking and shock, cardiac conditions and stroke, asthma, allergic reaction and anaphylaxis, diabetes, seizures, sprains, strains and immobilisation, burns and scalds, hypothermia and cold injury, and reviewing and debriefing after an incident. Every topic uses simple language, short sentences and Australian terminology so you know what your trainer and assessor will be talking about on the day. Finishes with a 60-question knowledge check that must be passed at 100%. Written by 3rd Eye Australia — this is awareness training only. It is not accredited and it is not a substitute for HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation, HLTAID010 Provide basic emergency life support or HLTAID011 Provide First Aid, which must be delivered and assessed face to face by a Registered Training Organisation.
